Animals Talk (Touch, Look, and Learn!)

A delightful introduction to animal sounds for the very young buzzes, barks and roars to life in this vibrantly illustrated board book that features embossed pages on the cover and throughout to help reinforce recognition.

The right-hand pages each feature a whimsical picture of an animal like a cow or a bee and a one-word sound at the bottom. A close-up of the creature’s fur or skin fills each sturdy facing page. Both pictures are designed with lots of texture, inviting little ones to run their fingers over the art, making for a nice tactile experience. One quibble: the last page shows a bear and the word roar. Growl might have been more appropriate, or perhaps the animal should have been a lion. Still, babies and toddlers will have fun meeting these animals for perhaps the first time. Preschool. --Ilene Cooper
