Corners mostly remain sharp and tight. Lettering remains vibrant. All DJs are toned with a fair bit of soiling. Shelf-wear along edges. Small tear along upper edge of Vol I DJ. Fit snug to boards. Rear gutters on first two volumes are cracked through, revealing binding; covers feel shaken from binding on the whole but remain present and attached. Binding of Vol III remains secure. Previous owner's name written on front free endpaper of all volumes -- Professor Alf Hiltebeitel, Columbian Professor of Religion, History, and Human Sciences at George Washington University. Pages slightly toned from age, but otherwise are free of marks. Last few pages on Vol I and II are slightly torn at gutter. Overall, good reading copies in fair condition. About the Author

William Crooke holds a doctorate in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley. He has taught German Literature and Media Studies at the Catholic University of America and is currently Assistant Professor of German and French at Eastern Tennessee State University. In addition to German literature, his research interests include German film, Italian women writers, and Francophone African literature.
