Annotations on Some of the Messianic Psalms

Annotations On Some Of The Messianic Psalms by Ern. Frid. Car Rosenmüller is a scholarly edition that presents Rosenmüller’s annotations on key Messianic psalms, accompanied by the Latin translations and notes of dathe. The book includes translator Robert Johnston’s English rendering, and prefatory material such as the Translator’s Preface and Hengstenberg’s Introduction To The Messianic Psalms. It provides a comprehensive examination of Psalms traditionally viewed as foretelling the Messiah, including discussions on authorship, date, and the hermeneutic methods used to interpret prophetic imagery. The collection illustrates how Old Testament kingship and priesthood motifs are connected to Messianic expectation, and how New Testament writers interpreted these psalms as pointing to Christ. The work also features general introductions to the Psalms and a series of Psalms with detailed exegesis, textual notes, and textual variants from the Latin Dathe version. Overall, it is a rigorous resource for scholars of biblical theology and Hebrew philology seeking to understand the Messianic scope of the Psalms in classical exegesis.
