Another Selection of Ultimately Inconsequential and Vaguely Depressing Stories (Paperback)

Short stories… years to write, but minutes to read. Vaguely depressing, because… look around, how else could we respond? And yet the process of reflecting, and finding beauty and humour in shared snippets of real and imaginary inconsequential lives brings, if not closure, some sort of balance. But no matter how farfetched, the stories are (or will be) they remain absolutely grounded in actual experience. And although they aren’t about you or me… they could be.

Julian Francis (like most of his main characters) is something of an outsider. Despite being on occasional nodding terms with the establishment, he remains, most definitely, not part of it. His stories aim to uncover truth in myth, metaphor and magic in the humdrum... playing with (and celebrating) the importance of delusion, denial and daydreams; exploring unrealisable fantasies and unachievable aspirations. Coming from a non-literary background; Julian originally studied Theatre Design; working in opera, film and TV before rerouting into teaching. He continues to like foxes, bicycles... and, of course, writing stories.
