Front endpage inscribed in old hand with list of the pamphlets bound up in this volume, omitting (inadvertently?) only James, 'Three Sermons'. Signatures in old hand to top margin of some title pages. Title page of 'Letter to a Member of Parliament' inscribed 'from the author'(?). Authorship of 'How Can the Church Educate the People?' taken from Copac and title page inscription. Pusey's sermon, 'The Holy Eucharist a Comfort to the Penitent', was controversial enough in the climate of the 1840s that it saw him suspended from his duties as a university preacher for two years; the condemned sermon went on to sell 18,000 copies.
