39pp, decorated title page, small format, later grey paper wrappers. NMM Cat, Vol 5, Pt 1, entry 672: The narrative is of the action off Dover, 29 May 1652. Bibliotheca Nautica, 1930, Part 2, entry 569: Thirty-five pages of this narrative relate to the Battle off Dover fought on 17th May, 1652, although a state of war had not been declared. The immediate cause of the battle was Admiral Tromp's declining to lower his flag in salute to the British colours. A slight advantage remained with the English, who captured one Dutch vessel without losing any themselves.
