The Anthology of Jewish Mysticism.

This fascinating collection includes some of the major ideas in Jewish mysticism. From the intriguing 16th century work by Rabbi Moshe Cordovero, Tomer Devorah (The Palm Tree of Devorah), introducing a system of ethics based on mystical teachings, to the complex Ma'amar Patach Eliyahu (The Speech of Elijah), where the concept of the sefiroth (spheres) is described.
Also featured is the landmark work, Sha'ar Hayichud Vehaemunah (The Portal of Unity and Faith), by Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, who delves into the Chassidic notion of immanence, that G-d is present within creation. And finally, the universal Nefesh HaChaim (The Soul of Life), by Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, offering a forceful description of how the mystics conceived the nature of the soul, and its consequences for human psychology and ethics.
While these authors represent different schools of mystical thought, the selections presented here stress the universal nature of these teachings.
A superb introduction to some of the greatest works of Jewish mysticism!
