About the Author
Dr. Sadia Ilyas is a Brain Pool Scientist at the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) and a Professor (Research) in the Department of Earth Resources and Environmental Engineering at Hanyang University (Seoul), South Korea. She earned her Ph.D. in 2011 with doctoral research at theUniversity of Agriculture Faisalabad focused on the metals-to-microbe interactions in the geo-environment and their application in the sustainable exploitation of valuable metals from the burgeoning legacy of the digital world (i.e., electronic waste). Dr. Ilyas has 10+ years of post-Ph.D. experience in both teaching and research in the inter-disciplinary areas of bio- and hydro-metallurgy, applied, inorganic, and environmental chemistry, sustainable (solid & industrial) waste management, extraction of critical raw minerals, etc. During her career, she also had the opportunity to work in different countries with well- known institutions worldwide, like Hanyang University-Seoul, Jeonbuk National University-Jeonju and KIGAM-Daejeon in South Korea, the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and the GC University of Faisalabad in Pakistan, and the Wuhan Institute of Technology in China. She has six patents, published about 100 research articlesin high-impact journals, including many of them are highly cited, and wrote a number of book chapters and edited books.
