About the Authors: Katy Gardner is professor of anthropology at the London School of Economics and is the author of several books including Discordant Development and Global Migrants, Local Lives: Travel and Transformation in Rural Bangladesh.

David Lewis is professor of social policy and development at the London School of Economics. He is the author of Bangladesh: Politics, Economy and Civil Society and co-editor of The Aid Effect.
