Map of the Allied capture of Ath from the French, October 2, 1706. Numbered lower right: 'Tom. II. no. 30'.Titled on the bottom left in Dutch within a cartouche with a legenda referencing the numbers within the plate: 'PLAN DER STADT AATH en Verklaring van de Attaque'; on the right its French translation: 'PLAN DE LA VILLE D'AATH et Explication de l'Attaque.'This map was previously published by Anna van Beek. It served to illustrate how the war of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714) was proceeding.For further information see Carlyn Osborn's contribution: 'Anna Beek and the War of the Spanish Succession.' (2016).This impression, however, comes from a later edition from [Jean] du Mont's: 'Oorlogskundige beschryving van de veldslagen en belegeringen, der drie . en den Prins van Oranje en Nassau-Vriesland,' from 1729.Attributed to Peter van Call II. Large plano, total: 480 x 655mm; wide margins, central folding crease and some folds and minor tears on the most external margins. In great condition. Aat (Frans: Ath) is een kleine Waalse stad in het noorden van de Belgische provincie Henegouwen. De stad ligt aan de samenvloeiing van de oostelijke en de westelijke Dender, die als Dender vanaf Aat bevaarbaar is.
