Venus attempts to keep Adonis from hunting. Adonis holds a spear in his hand. Next to Venus is a hound dog. On the right, a landscape stretches out with a river and a mountain with a castle on top.Signed: P. Bril Inventor / Nieulant fecit / ABon enfant excud / Avec Privilege du Roy.From a set of 36 plates representing Italian landscapes.[NL] Venus tracht Adonis van de jacht te weerhouden. Adonis houdt een speer in de hand. Naast Venus staat een jachthond. Rechts strekt zich een landschap uit met een rivier en een berg met een burcht er bovenop. Gemaakt door van Nieulandt II. Etching on laid paper, cut on or within plate mark; total: 241 x 306 mm;state II/V mounted in paper passepartout; despite some rubbing and a light brown stain at bottom, in very good condition. Hollstein 76/111. Watermark with flower above a hand.
