Anxious Roots

You've tried the meditation apps. The breathing exercises. The affirmations. And you still lie awake at 3 AM, mind racing, wondering why calm feels so impossibly far away.

What if the anxiety you carry today began long before adulthood - and what if understanding that changes everything?

In Anxious Roots, Integrative Wellness Strategist and Relationship Educator Marie Benjamin traces anxiety back to its source - the childhood experiences, inherited fears, and survival strategies that shaped your nervous system before you had any say in the matter. Drawing on trauma-informed psychology, neuroscience, and the Mind-Body Relational Wellness Framework, she offers a compassionate, practical path toward the kind of lasting calm that coping strategies alone can never reach.

This book is for the overachiever who can't stop. The peacekeeper who can't say no. The person who appears completely together on the outside while feeling perpetually unsettled within. It is for anyone who has ever suspected that what looks like their personality might actually be protection.

Inside, you will:

- Trace the invisible roots connecting your childhood experiences to your adult stress responses

- Understand why your body holds anxiety even when your mind can't explain it

- Learn to recognize inherited anxiety patterns - and begin to separate them from who you truly are

- Tend to the inner child still waiting to be seen, heard, and held

- Build boundaries, nervous system resilience, and the daily practices that make healing sustainable

Healing your anxiety isn't about becoming someone new. It's about returning to who you've always been beneath the layers of survival. This is where that journey begins.
