Item description from seller

Full title: "Sacred Dissertations, on What is Commonly Called the Apostles' Creed". These volumes are facsimile reprints of the 1823 edition printed for A. Fullarton & Co, Edinburgh; and Khull, Blackie & Co. Glasgow. A classic Reformed theological exposition of the Apostles' Creed. Originally published in Latin in the late 17th century, it was translated into English in the 19th century. Witsius (a Dutch Reformed theologian) provides a detailed, phrase-by-phrase commentary on the Creed, treating it as a summary of core Christian doctrine. The work is divided into dissertations (lectures/essays) that cover each article of the Creed, blending exegesis, systematic theology, and practical application. This is a substantial theological work (not light reading), prized for its piety and precision.ABOUT THIS SET: Hardcovers. Bound in matching navy blue cloth, covers are plain with gilt lettering on the spine. Dust jackets bear an illustrative pattern in blues, greens and dark purples with white and light purple lettering. Since 2005, Shelley and Son Books has been passionate about books, and preserving their importance for current and future generations. We believe that virtue and beauty have a close relationship. By reading we gain knowledge. In knowledge we find things that inform our choices and beliefs. Therefore, as booksellers, we see that books have an aesthetic value and a heuristic value. We specialize in The Inklings, primarily "The Seven'": C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Dorothy Sayers, G. K. Chesterton, George MacDonald, Owen Barfield and Charles Williams. A sub-specialty is our significant collection of Christian Theology. But you'll also find works across the centuries, first editions, signed copies, and even modern books, too, across a broad selection of categories and genres. Customer service is of utmost importance to us, and our friendly staff is always happy to help. We assure our clients books of quality, as each copy is carefully graded and shipped with care. Located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, we can be found on Main Street in Hendersonville, North Carolina, (just south of Asheville).
