8vo. 21cm, 123 &102pp., 2 title-pages, in the original (untrimmed) in blue wraps, spine cap mostly off, with hand written label mainly covered, some occasional slight foxed, a good to very good sound copy (gar). ~ A posthumous publication of Jeanne Manon Roland (known as Madame Roland), wife of the prominent French politician and economist with King Louis XVI, Jean-Marie Roland (1734-1793). Madame Roland was always very much involved in her husband's politics and view. M. Roland was the Minister of the Interior in the Girondist government that fell in 1792. During the following Reign of Terror, both Rolands were ex-communicated, with Madame Roland being imprisoned and executed in 1793. On hearing this, M. Roland commited suicide. A sub-title to Madame Roland's story reads "Imprime au profit de sa Fille Unique, privee de la fortune de ses peres et meres, dont les bleus sont toujours sequestres.".
