Application of Value Engineering for Affordable Housing Schemes : A Case Study: Surat City

India is currently facing a big shortage house. Out Of which, 95% shortage pertains to houses for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and for Lower-Income Groups (LIG). The objective of this study is to apply value-engineering concept for affordable housing schemes and to achieve housing for all as well as to maintain the quality of house during the cost reduction. This study elaborate the work of determining the objective and scope of the study, literature review, major findings of literature review, study profile, data collection by surveying at two different affordable housing existing site at Surat city as study area, identification of the main critical components for the buildings, a various creative alternatives for various techniques and material.
