Applied Geology, Vol. 2 (Classic Reprint)

Explore how ore bodies form beyond layered rocks and how miners locate them.

This non-fiction guide examines unstratified ore deposits, including fissure, bedded, contact, and gash veins, as well as stockworks, carbonates, pockets, and disseminations. Written for both geologists and practical readers, it blends theory with real-world mining insights.

The book explains how fissures form, how ore fills the cracks, and how the host rock influences ore width and vein geometry. It also covers the practical aspects of prospecting, quarrying, and choosing mining methods for open works and underground operations. Rich with illustrative diagrams and historical examples, it connects geology to daily industrial use.

• Definitions and classifications of vein systems and irregular ore masses
• How fractures interact with country rocks to shape ore deposits
• Practical approaches to prospecting, evaluating, and developing unstratified deposits
• Glossaries and explanations of terms used in ore geology and mining practice

Ideal for students, professionals, and anyone curious about how ore deposits arise and how they are exploited in industry.
