Procarbazine is an alkylating drug with different functions that has anti-neoplastic (anti-cancer) properties. Procarbazine is used in the treatment of some types of cancer, especially Hodgkin's disease. It is used to treat Hodgkin's lymphoma (in the MOOP diet), non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, brain tumors (such as malignant gliomas), some lung tumors, multiple myeloma, and other types of cancer. Procarbazine is a substance that acts as a cell cycle-specific agent on cell division phases and inhibits the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and protein. Although the exact mechanism of action is unknown, it has several sites of action.
