The Text Block is clean, pages off-white, tight, straight and square with no markings of any kind other than the aforementioned name and date on FEP. The Binding is blue boards with gilt title and author on front board, gilt title, etc., to spine, square corners, and mild sunning to the top 1/4" of the boards. The Dust Jacket is intact with visible wear to top of spine and dirt spot on rear panel. See photos. 455 pages. 5 1/2" X 8". Book club edition is indicated by (1) lack of price on dust jacket; (2) no printing information at foot of page 455; (3) emboss on rear board. Translated from the German Arc de Triomphe (1945) by Walter Sorell and Denver Lindley. A Jewish doctor, an illegal refugee from Nazi Germany in 1939, tries to survive in Paris. The basis for the 1948 film starring Charles Boyer and Ingrid Berman.
