About the Authors

Ulf Meyer, born 1970, studied architecture at the Technical ­University of ­Berlin and the Illinois Institute of Technology in ­Chicago. ­Held lectureship ­positions abroad in ­Tokyo,  Japan and ­Berkeley­ , ­California, among ­other ­places. 2008 – 2010 ­Assistant Professor for ­Sustainable ­Urban Construction at ­Kansas State ­University. 2010 – 2011 Hyde Chair of Excellence at the University of Nebraska-­Lincoln. Countless lectures and publications on contemporary architecture.

Laura Kolbe, born 1957, Professor for European History at the ­University of Helsinki with focus on urban, cultural and social history. ­Membership of ­countless cultural organisations and ­municipal insti­tutions. Participation in ­national committees and academic ­research ­activities.

Douglas Gordon, born 1951, studied archi­tecture at The Bartlett, ­University College London. Archi­tect and ­planner. Involvement in several urban development projects for the ­Greater London Council (GLC), the London Borough of Camden and the Housing Fund of Finland with focus on the urban development of Helsinki and spatial strategies within the metropolitan region.
