This small book is "Architecture, an Introduction to the History and Theory of the Art of Building" by W. R. Lethaby. Published in London by Thorton Butterworth in 1935 in their "Home University Library" series, it is a reprint, the original having been issued by Oxford University. This is the third Printing of the Revised edition. This is only a brief introduction to what is, really , a massive subject. But this small book should provide a decent introduction, brushing the surface only . and not entering into beyond a mere mention, of modern buildings. Do not Look for skyscrapers in this book. The emphasis is on early architecture. there are a few line illustrations scattered through the text, but, again, it is mostly text, requiring the reader to actively use their imaginations to picture what is being discussed. ******************************************** SEIRES : The Home University Library / TITLE : Architecture, an Introduction to the History and Theory of the Art of Building / AUTHOR : W.
