[LGBTQ] Lesbian Connection Archive of 8 Magazines dating 1978 to 1983. Lesbian Connection is an American grassroots network forum publication "for, by and about lesbians". This archive includes: Feb. 1978 (vol. 3, no. 7), Aug. 1978 (vol. 4, no. 3), Nov. 1979 (Vol. 4, no. 7), Sept. 1980 (vol. 5, no. 1), Sept. 1981 (vol. 5, no. 3), May 1982 (vol. 5, no. 4), July 1982 (Vol. 5, No. 5), and March 1983 (Vol. 6, no. 2). Each magazine measures 8.5" x 11 and has decorated pictorial wrappers, often of abstract female anatomical sketches. It was founded in 1974 by the lesbian-feminist collective Ambitious Amazons "to address the lack of safe, reliable, and targeted information channels for lesbian groups and individuals". Lesbian Connection is truly unique, as a distinguishing factor lies in the fact that its content is largely submitted by its readers. Several topics of interest surface within these publications, including Lesbian community current affairs, travel, music festivals, special events, obituaries, and more. Another distinguishing factor is that the publication does not publish fiction or personal advertisements. One article in the Nov. 1979 (vol 4, no. 7) issue is titled "Armenian Lesbians" and tells us of the struggles of society erasing the Armenian genocide of 1914; "I found that some womyn didn't want a poster with a picture of a genocide around them." and continues to beg the question ".how does it feel to be culturally different and usually 'a minority of one' in a divided lesbian community."
