Loose_leaf. Offered here are program packets and related ephemera from 10 convenings of the exclusive Los Angeles Conference on Magic History over the years 1993 to 2015. Co-hosted by Mike Caveney, John Gaughan, Joan Lawton, Frankie Glass, and Jim Steinmeyer and taking place biennially since 1989, the Los Angeles Conference on Magic History is an invitation-only conference dedicated to the showcasing of historical magic from around the world, with recreations of performances, lectures, historical illusions from famed magicians of the past and by famed magicians of the present, including Neil Patrick Harris, David Devant, Gene Anderson, Jack Goldfinger, John Carney, and more. This collection includes the highly detailed, fully illustrated programs from the third, fifth, sixth, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth convenings of the Los Angeles Conference on Magic History, as well as related ephemera including mysterious invitations (including several that require special decoding), tickets to special programs, souvenirs, themed conference badges, and more from each conference. Some light edgewear and occasional folding, bending, or warping to materials, with relevant inked markings, as well as light soiling or occasional small tear to envelopes, else fine. Included in these program packets spanning 10 exclusive convenings of the Los Angeles Conference on Magic History: 1) Original envelope for the Third Los Angeles Conference on Magic History in 1993 with: purple registration confirmation letter with logistics information, welcome card including description of envelope contents and information on area attractions, 18-page detailed and illustrated program, "Program in Brief" bookmark, themed convention badge with participant's name, admission ticket "to see a special performance of Magic's Legendary Mystery: John Gaughan conducts a program of highlights from Doctor Hooker's 'Impossibilities'." Features Mike Caveney's presentation of Dante's Sawing a Lady in Half illusion with Moi-yo Miller, and Jim Steinmeyer and John Gaughan's recreation of the Hooker Card Rise. 2) Original envelope for the Fifth Los Angeles Conference on Magic History in 1997 with: original invitation and RSVP card, registration confirmation letter, welcome card, 22-page detailed and illustrated program with a tipped-in copy of Will, the Witch and the Watch poster designed by legendary Disney artist Rolly Crump, "Program in Brief" bookmark, Convention badge featuring "The Witch," and two large violet-colored tickets for the Saturday evening performance of the famous Maskelyne magic play "Will, the Witch & the Watch." 3) Ephemera from the Sixth Los Angeles Conference on Magic History in 1999 with: 8-page staplebound information newsletter published in 1998 by the conference organizers, playing card-themed invitation in original envelope to the conference with accompanying decoder to reveal text, registration receipt letter in original envelope, 26-page detailed and illustrated program with a tipped-in Mascot Moth poster by artist William Stout, "Program in Brief" bookmark, Convention badge, and optical illusion souvenir photograph. Program features a two part discussion by Richard Hatch and David Alexander on the identity of Erdnase, Mike Caveney presented Through the Eye of a Needle using Thurston's original Barrels, and a restaging of Maskelyne & Devant's Mascot Moth. 4) Original envelope for the Eighth Los Angeles Conference on Magic History in 2003 with: invitation card with mirror-revealed message, registration receipt letter, welcome letter, 28-page detailed and illustrated program, convention lanyard badge with brief program to verso, 9-page phamphlet: "Extracts Some Passages from the Hokasen 1764 by Hose Hirase," large coral colored ticket to the Tanagra Theatre prooduction of "Dr. Klein's Wonders," photograph of Houdini's automaton, and souvenir featuring signature penned by the Houdini Automaton.
