MacMillan (1874-1970) was unusual among Arctic explorers in taking an interest in the Inuktitut language; he made over 30 expeditions to the Arctic over a career that started with the Peary expedition of 1908, where MacMillan turned around with frozen feet at 84 degrees north. The book is unmarked; spine slant; some white spotting to the front board; corners sharp, spine ends bumped with some wear; foxing to page edges. The dust jacket is not price-clipped (original price $5.00); chipped and edgeworn; a 4-inch closed tear down the spine; some soiling and creasing to the front panel; Brodart protected.
