First issue includes an interview with Frank Frazetta (continued in issue 2), two poems by Robert E. Howard, article on Batman, ''Will the Real Bruce Wayne Please Stand Up?'' by Tappan King, b'w art by Frank Frazetta and Burne Hogarth, colour comic strip from Richard Corben (excerpt from Bloodstar), plus a fannish piece on Frazetta and Marlon Brando by a young Peter Jackson (much later to be director of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy). Fiction and non-fiction by Ursula K. Le Guin, Michael Moorcock, Harlan Ellison, Larry Niven, Charles Platt, Ray Bradbury, Jane Yolen, Alexander Theroux and others.
