Around the world in Eighty days was published in 1873. It is an adventure novel by the French writer, Jules Verne. It was first published in French. The book is one of Verne s most acclaimed works. Jules Verne (8th February 1828 24th March 1905) was French novelist, poet, and playwright. In his credit, a series of novels are there, such as Voyage extraordinaries, Journey to the center of the Earth, Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Seas. Each novel is well documented. Besides novels, he also wrote numerous plays, short stories, autobiographical accounts, poetry, and songs. He has been the second most translated author in the world. He has sometimes been called the Father of Science Fiction . The story starts with Phileas Fogg of London and his newly employed French valot Passe-partout attempt to circumnavigate the world in 80-days. It starts from London Fogg is a member of the Reform club where he use to spend most of his social life. Once at the Reform Club, there is a situation that, is it possible to travel around the world in 80-days? After reading in The Daily Telegraph that has a new rail road in India made it in 80-days. Fogg along with Passe-partout departs from London by train at 8:45 p.m. on 2nd October, so in order to win the bet he must come back to the club by the same time on 21st December, 80-days later.
