A chronicle of a 1992 air race around the world, organized by Arc en Ciel, an association of volunteers whose goal is to promote aviation through the organization of aeronautical events. Profiles the crews of each of the airplanes involved in the race and provides a detailed record of each segment of the race, which began in Geneva, Switzerland on June 20, 1992. The route included stops in Helsinki, Moscow, Irkutsk, Yakutsk, Anadyr (Siberia), Nome (Alaska), Victoria (B.C.), Fresno (California), Washington, D.C., Nuuk (Greenland), and Cannes (France) - the last stop on July 11th. Total distance traveled: 16,506 miles or 26,544 kms. in almost 3 weeks. Nicely designed, large book, with color photographs on almost every page, documenting this ambitious trip around the world: aerial views of earth, photos of airplanes, people and sights along the route of the trip, etc. All texts in English and in French. Measures 8" x 12" with 191 pages. Laminated covers with color photographs from the trip.
