CONDITION Inner joint strengthened, a little worn at corners, slight soiling and pen marking but generally sound and clean throughout. FURTHER COMMENTS NEW EDITION, apparently the third printing; This charmingly illustrated title was perhaps the most popular of all 18th Century books on angling, passing through several editions from its first appearance in 1740, all illustrated with the same delightful woodcuts. These are often found afflicted by foxing but this example is really quite clean with just the occasional spot or stain as the result of normal use. For a very practical book, this is a good copy; most are found completely rebound. This edition is considerably altered and enlarged from the first of 1740, the title page advertising it as 'Now Improved with Additions, and formed into a dictionary.' The content covers both river and sea fishing, with a section on whaling at the end.
