There is a long tradition of collecting rings dating back to the 17th century when their significance was first appreciated in Europe although their use and manufacture dates back to antiquity. Well-known collections were made by enthusiasts as diverse as the French aristocrat Baron J�r�me Davillier (1815-1890), whose collection included the ring of the Black Prince found in the ruins of the Castle of Montpensier in 1866, and C. D. Fortnum (1820-1899) whose income came from the famous grocery store in Piccadilly. Rings can take us back through time, illuminating vanished worlds and bringing their former owners back to life. Some rings are intensely personal, particularly wedding and mourning rings, while others denote the status of their owners: monarchs, nobles, those high in the hierarchy of the church and rich merchants, amongst others.

Within the United States, we generally ship by media mail, unless you request otherwise. Please note that delivery time for media mail can vary. We provide delivery confirmation free of charge so you will be able to track your package through www.usps.com or www.endicia.com.

Outside of the United States, we ship by first class international or priority international mail, depending on the size of the package. Again, delivery time can vary, depending on whether the package is held up by customs in the United States or in the destination country. Unfortunately, tracking service is not provided by the Post Office for international shipping.

If you order a book that is oversized, we may request that you pay an additional fee to cover the additional postage. We will promptly email you if this is the case.
