Dedicated to the "Nervous and Bilious" by the author of Traveller's Oracle. Original blind decorated black cloth viii + 1 + 338pp. 6th edition 1828 "very greatly augmented and improved". Covers near fine slightly rubbed to extremities. Binding secure. Pages fine and clean lightly tanned with some spotting. Tear to rear blank. PROVENANCE: Bookplate to front pastedown reads "De la Biblioteque du Comte de Chambord (Henri V de France, duc de Bordeaux, ne en 1820). Acquise par Maggs Bros. Ltd. de Londres." This was Henri Charles Ferdinand Marie Dieudonné d'Artois, duc de Bordeaux, comte de Chambord (1820-83), disputedly King of France from 2 to 9 August 1830 as Henry V (though never officially proclaimed as such), and Legitimist pretender to the French throne 1844-83. Maggs would have acquired this from his library. Also a sticker for Corner Bookshop, New York, 102 Fourth Ave.
