The Art & Poetry of Travelers: Volume One

Wander, create, connect: an anthology of travel-inspired art and poetry.

In the summer of 2022, a group of thirteen poets and artists from across the globe-Australia, Germany, Norway, Malaysia, and the United States-came together in Italy, united by one mission: to capture the beauty of their surroundings and experiences through the lenses of art and poetry. This collection, The Art and Poetry of Travelers, Volume 1, is the result of that extraordinary journey.

Led by R. Clift, an artist and poet herself, this eclectic group formed an instant bond, becoming what they now call "The Sunflower Poets." What began as a group of strangers quickly transformed into a close-knit community, bound by a shared sense of wonder, creativity, and vulnerability. As they wandered through Italy's enchanting landscapes, they found themselves overflowing with inspiration, their pens constantly in motion, capturing the world around them and the emotions it stirred within them.

This anthology is a celebration of that creative magic-a collection of poetry and artwork born from a retreat that transcended its physical borders. Each piece within these pages is a reflection of the individual journey, yet together they weave a tapestry of connection, discovery, and the unspoken beauty of human collaboration.

In this first volume, you'll find the voices of poets who dared to be vulnerable and open to one another, who shared their hearts and their words without hesitation. The words are raw, honest, and full of life, while the accompanying artwork brings the landscapes, emotions, and experiences to vivid color. It's a testament to what happens when artists come together, not just to create, but to support and inspire each other, building something greater than the sum of its parts.

For Rachel and the Sunflower Poets, this experience was nothing short of magical-a journey that turned strangers into lifelong friends and transformed the act of creation into an unforgettable bond.

May this collection inspire you as much as the trip itself inspired them. And may we, always, turn towards the sun.
