Reviews
Broder, author of The Art of Living Single (Avon, 1990), here offers couples advice on how to make relationships last. He divides love relationships into two main elements: passion and comfort. For a relationship to last, both elements need to be present. According to the author, passion and comfort can be nurtured through good communication skills. From that point, argues Broder, relationships are unique and shaped by the people involved. He explains how to fight fairly, how to handle nonverbal rules, and how to decide whether or not a relationship is worth saving. Included are case histories and a few questionnaires geared toward helping readers evaluate their own relationships. There is nothing really earthshaking here, but the advice is solid and well written. Recommended for large public libraries, especially where self-help books are popular.
