About this Item
Blue cloth, gilt letters on spine & front cover, gilt top edge. xii, 180 pp. A key book in the Tonalism department. Consists of a series of talks detailing Henry Ward Ranger's ideas concerning Tonalism, Landscaping Painting, Personal Methods, Tonality, etc. Very scarce. This copy, or edition, printed in 1916 or later, despite the date at the base of the title-page, as evidenced by the bound-in vitae and portrait of Ranger preceding the title-page which lists his date of death as 1916. An exceptionally clean, tight and fresh copy. Inside on inner flyleafe is the printed statement "Compliments of Newcomb-Macklin Co Picture Frame Makers." The cover title is "Art Talks with Henry W. Ranger, N.A., and there is nothing printed at the base of the spine. VG (Has a few notes and comments in the margins written in ink, or paragraphs circled, made by an artist while he or she read the passages. A terrific copy.) later edition, likely a facsimile edition. Seller Inventory # 163059
