Synopsis

During a police operation to save a pair of young children held by kidnappers, a strange box is found. Inside the box, an item of hunger that is trying to devour the world around it.

At the same time, break-ins at a branch of The Academy on the West Coast have caused Headmaster Orpheus to leave to investigate and protect his students.

With the item locked away, Master Shepherd calls upon Underlord Alaric to investigate its source. Though, as with all things associated with The Void, evidence is difficult to come by. With few other options and a desire not to take Orpheus from his work, Alaric seeks help from Leonidas and Artemis in The Academy.

However, upon arrival with the item, Artemis' power as a Diamond is activated, and she foretells a dire future.

Alaric and Leonidas must follow all evidence they can find, even reaching as far back as the origins of the Curse-Bloods, to discover the origins of the item and prevent those who made it from enacting a plan of unparalleled destruction.

If they fail, The Void will be allowed to enter their world, and all existence will be devoured.
