This vividly illustrated book focuses on twenty-eight musuems that dot the Riviera, a mere stretch of some eighty miles along the French coast of the Mediterranean from Menton to Saint-Tropez. During the first three-quarters of the 20th century, it was home to an intriguing array of European artists - including Renoir, Matisse, Picasso, Leger, Chagall, and Cocteau, among others. The book highlights both museum collections and the artists'personal stories. Bibliography, index. Color/b&w illustrations. 224p.
