'This book, which I much enjoyed, is devoted, says the author, 'exclusively to the examination of the metaphysical aspects of time'. The first chapter is about the similarities and analogies between time and space ...the chapter's general conclusions are very reasonable...Chapter 2 turns to 'the profoundest issue in the philosophy of time: the status of temporal becoming'...Chapter 3 ...'McTaggart and His Commentators on the Unreality of Time' ...is arduous and searching...In Chapter 4, he concludes that backward causation is a phenomenon that in principle is discernible...The final chapter begins with a hypothesis ...that the universe is really no more than 5 minutes old...The book ...Is marked by vigorous and illuminating argument and should be included in anyone's collection on 'time" - K G Denbigh in "Mind".
