Assessing and Evaluating Adult Learning in Career and Technical Education

Increased interest in and use of theoretical and empirical assessment and evaluation methods have created a need for unique contributions to exisiting literature in the field of adult education and career and technical education. Assessing and Evaluating Adult Learning in Career and Technical Education advances a framework, a process and meaningful approaches for assessing and evaluating adult learning in career and technical education (CTE). This book addresses the key elements of the process of assessment and evaluation: self-evaluation, transformative learning, history of andragogy, teaching philosophies, and much more. At each step in this process, the reader is taken through multiple and meaningful approaches of assessing and evaluating adult learning in the field of career and technical education.

An assistant professor at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), Dr. Wang coordinates Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Adult Education. He earned his B.A. in English in China and received four graduate degrees including a doctorate in CTE and Adult Education from Pittsburg State University and the University of Arkansas. Wang's research and writing activities have focused on workforce education, the foundations of adult education, adult teaching and learning, training, transformative learning, curriculum development and cultural issues in vocational and adult education. He has published more than eleven books and dozens of chapters and refereed journal articles in national and international journals. The total number of his publications has exceeded 70 and he achieved this number within six years while working for CSULB. He has taught college English, Chinese/modern China, computer technology, courses in vocational and adult education and research methodologies for three universities in China and three universities in the United States for the past 19 years. Currently, Wang is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Adult Vocational Education and Technology. He also serves on the editorial board of four other national and international journals.
