Asset Intelligence Through Integration and Interoperability and Contemporary Vibration Engineering Technologies : Proceedings of the 12th World Congress on Engineering Asset Management and the 13th International Conference on Vibration Engineering and Technology of Machinery

These proceedings include a collection of papers on a range of topics presented at the 12th World Congress on Engineering Asset Management (WCEAM) in Brisbane, 2 – 4 August 2017. Effective strategies are required for managing complex engineering assets such as built environments, infrastructure, plants, equipment, hardware systems and components. Following the release of the ISO 5500x set of standards in 2014, the 12th WCEAM addressed important issues covering all aspects of engineering asset management across various sectors including health. The topics discussed by the congress delegates are grouped into a number of tracks, including strategies for investment and divestment of assets, operations and maintenance of assets, assessment of assets’ health conditions, risk and vulnerability, technologies, and systems for management of assets, standards, education, training and certification.

Joseph Mathew is the CEO of the Asset Institute based at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane and has been the key facilitator behind the Institute’s transition from the Cooperative Research Centre for Infrastructure and Engineering Asset Management and its predecessor, the CRC for Integrated Engineering Asset Management.  Joe is a Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in academia, academic administration, research and research management, and consulting. Joe specialises in asset management, integrated frameworks and systems for asset management, as well as condition monitoring, diagnostics and prognostics of machine systems. He is one of the two founders of the International Standards Organisation’s Committee on Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics (ISO TC 108/SC5), which he chaired from 1996 - 2014. He also initiated the International Society of Engineering Asset Management (ISEAM) and the World Congress on Engineering Asset Management (WCEAM) in 2006. He serves as Foundation Chair of ISEAM and General Chair of the WCEAM.
