First published in English in 1935, this classic treatment is well known to students and teachers of physics around the world. Born was a physicist. He becaome a prpfessor of theoretical physics at Gottingen, a lecturer at Cambridge, and professor of natural philosophy at Edinburgh. He won the Nobel Prize in 1954 with Walter Bothe in the field of quantam physics.
