Atomic Structure and Quantum Chemistry A Guide with Solved MCQs

This book offers a clear and comprehensive introduction to the structure of the atom, tracing its conceptual evolution from early philosophical ideas to the modern quantum mechanical model. It covers key milestones such as Dalton's atomic theory, Thomson's discovery of the electron, Rutherford's nuclear model, Bohr's planetary model, and the wave-particle duality that shaped Schrödinger's equation. Each concept is explained with relevant diagrams, simple analogies, and real-world examples to enhance understanding. To reinforce learning, the book includes a rich collection of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering basic definitions, historical experiments, subatomic particles, quantum numbers, electronic configuration, and periodic trends. Each MCQ is paired with a detailed solution that not only identifies the correct answer but also explains the reasoning behind it, ensuring conceptual clarity and exam readiness.By blending theory with practice, this book serves as both a learning guide and a self-assessment tool for students preparing for competitive exams and academic assessments in chemistry and physics.
