Reassessing church leadership and worship through biblical limits
This study examines how churches organize leadership, discipline, and worship when faced with questions about authority, unity, and tradition. It argues for careful attention to scriptural guidance over popular schemes, and calls readers to consider how best to preserve gospel integrity in practice.
Drawing on historical and biblical concerns, the book critiques the idea of a broad plurality of bishops and warns against plans that mix diverse gifts and conditions without clear safeguards. It presents a measured alternative that emphasizes steady, accountable ministry and the avoidance of unnecessary innovations in church order.- Examines how leadership structures affect unity, order, and fidelity to Scripture
- Returns repeatedly to practical questions about pastors, elders, and the Lord’s Supper
- Highlights dangers of overemphasizing external arrangements at the expense of Christian virtue
- Offers a framework for evaluating reforms in light of biblical principles
