D'origine russe, Isabelle Eberhardt (1877-1904) fut pendant quelques ann�es une voyageuse infatigable, m�lant son existence � celle des peuples de l'Alg�rie, du Maroc et de la Tunisie auxquels elle vouait une v�ritable passion. Convertie � la religion musulmane, �pouse de Slim�ne Ehnni, elle devait trouver la mort � vingt-sept ans, laissant une oeuvre litt�raire enti�rement consacr�e au monde qu'elle avait fait sien.
