Edward Atherton of the Philadelphia Racquet Club. Published by David McKay, Philadelphia. The original red pictorial hardcover, featuring bright white lettering and playing-card illustrations, remains remarkably well preserved with virtually no bumping, rubbing, or significant wear. Binding is tight and sound. Approximately one-half of the original dust jacket survives and is included. The interior is clean and unmarked, showing only light age-related foxing throughout. An attractive and increasingly collectible example of an early bridge manual from the formative years of Auction Bridge, documenting a pivotal period in the evolution of the game before the emergence of Contract Bridge.
