This 6.625 x 9.0 inch, 342 page hardcover book is an early printing of this title by Harcourt, Brace and Company with the 1936 copyright date showing on the copyright page but no further printing information given. This copy has the look and feel of that 1930?s vintage with the bright blue cloth covers - - with silver lettering on font panel and spine - - all clean and with very little age wear showing. The corners do show some rubbing and whitening and there is also a touch of wear and whitening to the spine extremities but beyond that the covers and binding are about near fine. The interior text shows a previous owner?s inked inscription on the ffep along with some glue offsetting to the endpapers but beyond that the text is in all but fine condition with a touch of age toning to the paper but with no damage or markings showing to the text and the 12 full-page color Audubon reprints all striking in their grace and beauty - - and with the numerous black-and-white illustrations by James MacDonald further highlighting the text storyline. This is one of the earlier biographies of John James Audubon and has stood the test of time well, and is still one of the best works on one of America?s most accomplished and enduring artist-naturalists. 342 pages.
