The Augur's View: A Post-Apocalyptic Adventure

When the Solar Flash jolted Earth and spawned storms, most panicked, but a few with jolted genomes spawned their own storms and seized their opportunity.

"This novel is a strong opening to a promising series that marks the author apart as one to watch. Victoria Lehrer is a great storyteller and she succeeds in creating different levels in the story, with a complex plot that is packed with action and surprising moments. The characters are elaborately developed. The plot is enriched by covert activities and intrigue. There is a powerful sense of mystery-secrets hidden in ancient manuscripts and other worlds to explore. The Augur's View is exciting, featuring an imaginary setting that goes far beyond the world we know." Readers' Favorite Book Reviews (5 STARS)

Forewarned by ancient manuscripts of the coronal mass ejection of 2034, the controllers head to protection in underground caverns with their minions and military. After Solar Flash, they return topside to a destroyed infrastructure, yet hastily resume their long-hidden schemes. Cut off from the web of power governing the Union of the Americas, the remnant of the ruling class tracks down the Anunnaki/human hybrid, Eena.

Eena and Gavin are among those abandoned on the surface that survive aircraft falling from skies, raging winds, and unrelenting electrical storms. Revulsion grips her when the new rulers offer her a rise in status by working in a lab to clone infants-the secret future work force.

ALL THE WHILE, those privy to ancient writings closely guard an even bigger secret-a game-changer. Solar Flash is the greatest boon ever offered weaponless, impoverished humanity, for a secret component of human DNA, dormant for millennia, is switching on thanks to electro-magnetic pulses from the sun.

When Eena discovers at last the portal to ancient Mu, she finds the giant augurs that fly there. Their help may be the last, best chance to achieve human sovereignty.

"...a fast-paced story that embraces all kinds of social, political, moral, and ethical questions while remaining firmly rooted in the dreams, ambitions, and struggles of young people who reach for a better world. It's a powerful opener to a hero's journey in which the world beckons with new opportunity and danger, the promise of futuristic science and technology, and the dreams of survivors who both struggle and love on different levels." AUTHOR: In seventh grade, Mrs. Trader inspired me both as a writer and a teacher. In her class, I learned I loved to write and that my classmates liked to hear my stories. Her spirited students engaged in dramatic performances, hands-on projects, and lively discussions-nothing like the poor subdued souls across the hall, managed by the teacher with long green eyes. So Mrs. Trader was my model when I started a school and set aside my writing-that is, until it dawned on me that tribes of children have loved learning by listening to stories for thousands of years. So I wrote about a million words that speak to head and heart, which I am still reading to my child listeners. But now I'm writing stories, my second million words, to speak to the heads and hearts of adult readers and listeners, and hoping my classmates will like them.

EDITOR: I was born a bibliophile, but it wasn't until high school that I discovered my knack for editing and decided I wanted to edit fiction. I love the feel of a book in my hands, and I may or may not be one of those crazy book sniffers. In my spare time (which is in short supply), I enjoy playing board games and card games with my husband and two teen boys, perusing antique shops, and, of course, reading. What I love most about editing is cultivating relationships with authors. I feel fortunate to be able to share in their creative vision as an editorial partner. I am inspired by their dedication and I enjoy helping them achieve their goals.
