Broadside newspaper, 16 x 12 inches, perhaps an extra, employing several type sizes and styles, including a nice, though small, displaytype in the head. Clearly a local organ for the Democratic Party; Buckingham Smith received enough votes for a spot in the state legislature representing St. John's County; Van Buren lost his campaign for reelection, with the war-hero Harrison succeeding him, albeit briefly. Servies 1117 (for the newspaper, this issue not listed separately). Gregory American Newspapers, 821-1936, p. 98 (for the newspaper); none of the holdings for her census of this newspaper include this issue. Old folds, ink docket on the verso, uniformly tanned, otherwise a very good example. (#5068).
