"Austin Dobson" is a comprehensive biographical and critical tribute to the life and literary contributions of the celebrated English poet and essayist. Compiled by his son, Alban Dobson, this volume offers a unique window into the personal and professional world of a writer who bridged the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The work is enriched by insightful chapters from two of the most prominent literary critics of the time, Sir Edmund Gosse and George Saintsbury, who provide expert analysis of Dobson's poetic style, his mastery of fixed verse forms, and his deep affection for the eighteenth century.

Through a collection of personal notes, reminiscences, and scholarly evaluations, the book captures Dobson's meticulous craftsmanship and his significant role in late nineteenth-century letters. It serves as both an intimate family record and an essential piece of literary history for those interested in the development of English poetry and criticism. Readers will find a detailed portrait of a man known for his charm, his historical erudition, and his enduring influence on the British literary landscape. This volume is an invaluable resource for scholars of English literature and admirers of the nuanced, polished prose and verse that defined Dobson's career.
