Book in good condition. Pages - intact and firm. Cover has some scuffing wear, and small tear at top edge of spine. A classic comedic novel by Steele Rudd (the pen name of Arthur Hoey Davis). The book follows the rural Dashwood family navigating the daily struggles, humorous mishaps, and socio-cultural quirks of bush life. It famously acts as a companion piece to the author's later sequel, The Dashwoods. Steele Rudd drew heavy inspiration from his own upbringing managing selection farms on the Darling Downs in Queensland. His stories are celebrated for capturing authentic vernacular dialects, highlighting both the comedic hayseed stereotypes and the gruelling realities of rural land management. Includes B&W Illustrations by Ben Jordan. First published in 1910.
