Add to basket1994 D. Montgomery (Fallbrook, California), 8 3/4 x 11 1/4 inches tall red faux leather hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, gilt lettering to front cover and spine, copiously illustrated with black-and-white photographs, 208 pp. Very slight soiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers. Otherwise, a very good to near fine copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in a fine dust jacket which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. ~SP02~ [3.0P] They were called hot rods by everyone except the guys that owned them. Hot rod was the unwanted name the newspapers gave the roadsters, and all the old jalopies that the young guys drove in the 1930s and 1940s. In spite of the bad press the hot rodders received, hot rodding grew in popularity and the hot rods were continually improved. Hopped-up roadsters quickly became the quickest and fastest cars on the road. Imagination and ingenuity helped to make the modifications that made the hot rods go so fast. Those modifications were usually made with new or used speed equipment plus lots of junk yard parts. The choice of parts depended on the rodder's wallet. Authentic Hot Rods shows what the hot rods were like in the real 'Good Old Days' of hot rodding.
