Autograph letter signed of four pages on two adjoining sheets, measuring 8 x 12.5 inches. Cooper writes at length to editors George Pope Morris and Nathaniel Parker Willis of "The Home Journal" in a response to their publication of criticisms by author Henry Onderdonk, Jr. of Judge Jones's History of George Washington. Undated but written between May 20-27, 1848, Cooper's letter published in the June 3, 1848 issue of "The Home Journal" (but without many of his mss. revisions).
