Autograph letter signed, two pages. 11.1 � 17.8 cm. An interesting letter requesting publication of a correction in The Times. Auckland objects to an inaccurate statement printed in the newspaper and explains that the deceased lady concerned was "a cousin of my father" and had served as a Maid of Honour to Queen Adelaide. A useful survival illustrating Victorian newspaper culture, aristocratic family connections and royal household service. Apparently unrecorded. Folded as sent, with light creasing and minor wear. Very good condition overall.
